Paul McCartney of The Beatles is a billionaire.
The ex-member of the Fab Four is the first British musician to be worth 1 billion pounds ($1.27 billion), according to numbers released on Friday.
According to the Sunday Times Rich List, the musician’s and his wife Nancy Shevell’s wealth has grown by 50 million pounds since last year. This is because of McCartney’s 2023 Got Back tour, the rising value of his back catalog, and Beyonce’s cover of The Beatles’ “Blackbird” on her “Cowboy Carter” album.
“Now and Then,” the “last” Beatles song, came out in November and topped the charts in the US, UK, and other places. McCartney and Ringo Starr finished a demo track that John Lennon recorded in 1977. George Harrison, who died in 2001, added guitar to the track.
The couple is thought to have 50 million pounds in wealth thanks to Shevell, who is the daughter of the late U.S. trucking mogul Mike Shevell.
McCartney came in at number 165 on the newspaper’s well-known and widely read list of the 350 richest people in the U.K.
Gopi Hinduja and his family, who own the banking, media, and entertainment company Hinduja Group and are worth about 37 billion pounds, came in first place.
“Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling, who is worth an estimated 945 million pounds, and singer Elton John, who is worth an estimated 470 million pounds, are also on the list.
King Charles III was ranked 258th and was thought to be worth 610 million pounds. The large private estates of Sandringham in England and Balmoral in Scotland, which the king inherited, are part of his wealth. The sum does not include things like the Crown Jewels that are held in trust by the monarch for the country.
